I Don’t Want To Be Here, But It Is Better if I Am
Dear Readers,
This week’s news letter comes to you all a little late as I have been travelling over the past week. I have been on a whirlwind trip across Ohio and Kentucky for a couple different purposes. First, one of my good friends, Logan, got engaged recently and his bachelor’s party was this past weekend in Louisville. We had a great time together. We played a bunch of board games, some pickup basketball, and had some wonderful conversations together.
The second major reason for traveling was to visit family in Ohio. I have not visited family not during a holiday in quite awhile. Having time to see my parents, brother, and extended family without the various obligation of a holiday was very good. This visit had more time to just talk and catch up on various things.
Traveling has made writing go just a little slow over the past two weeks. I have a completed outline of Chapter 22. Now, I have to the more challenging part of turning the outline into a written text. I am realizing that part of the challenge I am working on right now is connecting a cast of characters that has grown quite a bit from when I first outlined the plot to the original ending. Figuring out how to wrap up all the character arks is a little tricky as some of them didn’t exist when I started writing the book. I’ll get it figured out eventually.
This Week’s Chapter
This week’s chapter takes a character we have now spent quit a bit of time with and puts them in a situation that is very much out of there comfort zone. Kalikel keeps to herself and prefers to be in her wilds. Chapter 15 finds her leading a large group of spirits to find Myliayar and to reach the New Heavens.
We also get to see more of Tilsitar’s internal mindset as she interacts with Colthan and the mages of Irrkengrond. Tilsitar is facing a very serious transition. Her mission has failed. She has to make a decision about what to do next. She is functionally a captive, but she still must dicide what she will do.
Please feel free to share these newsletters with other people you think may be interested, and leave comments on the chapters!
“About the same time that Silnethren and Kalikel arrived at the mountain Milmota, Ikata arrived at Irrkengrond. Myliayar and Colthan met her at the city’s great gate and told her that Milyos was unwilling to leave the city and help them because of some great work he was seeking to accomplish on behalf of mortals. Ikata, much like Colthan, stated that not having a home for the spirits would place mortals in danger, and helping them build a new home for the spirits would be a great work for mortals and would spare the world much destruction. Colthan agreed with her and told her of his conversation with Milyos and that he could not be budged from his course of… ”
Something Extra!

This is our first board game for a Something Extra! Magical Athlete is an extremely silly and fun party game where fun, quirky characters race around the board. Each character has a special ability that modifies their dice rolls and interacts with other players. The game starts as a very simple dice rolling game but quickly escalates as the different character abilities begin to interact. I got to play this game at Logan’s bachelor party this weekend and give it a hearty reccomendation.
